KCCVB unveils Tolkien-themed digital pass for Hobbit Day

The Knox County Convention & Visitors Bureau, in partnership with Downtown Mount Vernon Merchants, is excited to announce the launch of a brand-new gamified digital pass, titled “A Middle-Earth March Through Mount Vernon.” This one-day event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 20, as part of Downtown Mount Vernon’s celebration of National Hobbit Day.
The pass is a Lord of the Rings-inspired Gamified Quiz Check-In pass, designed to immerse participants in the spirit of Middle-Earth while exploring the city’s vibrant downtown. Passholders will embark on a journey through the downtown shops and participating locations, where they’ll be challenged to answer riddles inspired by Tolkien’s world.
Adventurers who check in at nine locations (minimum) and correctly answer the riddles will be automatically entered into a exciting giveaways featuring an assortment of prizes generously provided by local Downtown Mount Vernon businesses.
In addition to the core journey, the pass includes optional side quest activities that allow participants to unlock even more check-ins and enhance their experience.
“We are thrilled to support our downtown merchants as they bring this one-of-a-kind event to Mount Vernon,” said Olivia Toth, marketing manager at the Knox County Convention & Visitors Bureau. “This pass combines local exploration with the fun and imagination of Tolkien’s world, while also supporting our merchants and engaging the community.”
