KCCC enhances Children’s Garden security after vandalism incidents

Grants from Knox County Foundation and Safety Council fund new measures to protect community space and keep it open year-round.

The Knox County Career Center recently received two grants for security measures at the Children's Garden.

Knox County Career Center experienced vandalism the past two summers in the Children's Garden. These acts of vandalism prompted KCCC to pursue more extensive security measures in order to keep the Children's Garden open. KCCC applied for grants to receive funding for the security measures and received $7,000 from the Knox County Foundation, and $2,500 from the Knox County Safety Council. KCCC contributed the remaining $2,700.

"We are so grateful for the Knox County Foundation and the Knox County Safety Council for providing funds to enhance security measures in the Children's Garden. These measures will assist us in keeping the Garden open to the community," Superintendent Kathy Greenich said.
