Mark your calendars and come out on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Floral Valley Community Center, 850 Crestrose Drive, Howard (in Apple Valley) for the 41st Annual Johnny Appleseed Bazaar. This cherished community event has been a beloved fall tradition in Apple Valley bringing neighbors, friends, and visitors together to celebrate local craftsmanship, creativity, and the warmth of community spirit.

Each year, the bazaar serves as more than just a marketplace — it’s a vibrant gathering that showcases the best of what our community has to offer. This year, you’ll find 45 local vendors displaying their unique handmade goods-both inside and outside the building. These talented artisans come from across Central Ohio, offering an incredible variety of items including beautiful paintings, homemade cards, fresh plants, finely crafted woodworking pieces, fragrant soaps, charming birdhouses, stylish home décor, jewelry, cozy crocheted creations, delicate ceramics, mouthwatering baked goods, adorable doll clothes, intricate cross-stitch art, wooden bowls, quilts, insulated tumblers, seasonal wreaths, woven baskets, fun puzzles, decorative magnets, baby items, hand-poured candles, local honey, custom cutting boards, tote bags, and striking slate art. Whether you’re hunting for the perfect gift or a special treat for yourself, this wide selection of locally made crafts ensures there’s truly something for everyone.

No trip to the bazaar would be complete without savoring a famous Amish apple dumpling — a longtime crowd favorite that perfectly captures the flavors of fall. Food trucks will also be stationed on site offering a variety of delicious meal options and snacks. Among these are the popular Apple Valley Singers food truck, Mama Lupe’s, and Buddy’s Local Eats, known for their tasty and convenient offerings.

Admission to the bazaar is free for all visitors, making it easy for families and friends to attend and enjoy the day together. The event will also feature a fun 50/50 raffle drawing for those interested in participating. All proceeds from the bazaar will go directly toward improvements and projects that benefit the Apple Valley community, making each purchase and donation an investment in the place many people call home.

‘If you’ve never experienced the Johnny Appleseed Bazaar before, our best advice is to simply come and enjoy the friendly, festive atmosphere." said Linda Schworm, committee member. Take your time browsing the wide array of crafts, chat with the artisans who put so much love into their work, enjoy a warm apple dumpling, and celebrate the spirit of community. This family-friendly event offers a wonderful opportunity to connect with neighbors, discover unique treasures, and create lasting memories.

The bazaar is proudly organized each year by a dedicated team of volunteers on the Apple Valley Bazaar Committee, including President Karen Fisk, along with Linda Schworm, Dee Scott, Carol Volk, Mary Lynn Perry, Mary Dozer, and Martha Lewbel. If you would like to be part of this rewarding effort, consider volunteering to help on the day of the event.
