As the holiday season approaches, Hospice of the Western Reserve invites community members to gather in remembrance at its annual Light Up a Life and Tree of Hope Memorial on Monday, Dec. 1, at 6:30 p.m. The event will be held at the hospice’s Mount Vernon location, 17700 Coshocton Road.
This cherished ceremony offers a peaceful space for families, friends and neighbors to honor the memory of loved ones who have passed. The evening will feature inspirational readings, reflective music, and the ceremonial lighting of the Tree of Hope, a symbol of comfort and enduring love during the winter months.
Prior to the memorial, the hospice’s bereavement coordinator will offer a grief support presentation that includes creating a memory ornament. This special session is open to the entire community and provides a thoughtful, hands-on way for participants to reflect and connect with others who are navigating loss. Those interested are encouraged to arrive early to take part in this meaningful activity. Organizers emphasize that the ceremony is open to all, not only those who have experienced hospice services. Following the tree lighting, guests are invited to stay for light refreshments, offering time for conversation, shared memories and quiet fellowship.
Hospice of the Western Reserve remains committed to supporting the community through compassionate end-of-life care and year-round bereavement services. As the Tree of Hope brightens the December evening, it will stand as a shining tribute to the love, resilience and cherished memories that continue to light our way.
