Granville pulls away from Mount Vernon; Danville dominates East Knox in rivalry win
Jackets fade in second half of 35-13 loss despite Mason Richards’ strong night, while Cyren Wallace powers Blue Devils past Bulldogs with four touchdowns in the annual Devil-Dog showdown

The Mount Vernon football team battled Granville through two
quarters of play, but the Blue Aces were able to take control in the second
half and go on to a 35-13 Licking County League victory at MV.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair with the teams
trading touchdowns. MV got it started with a 15-yard pass from Mason Richards
to Landon Dawson. Granville responded in quick fashion, scoring on a 25-yard
run by Kyle Kirby.
MV (6-4 overall, 3-2 LCL) retook the lead on a 1-yard run by
Richards. But, once again the quick strike Aces scored on a 42-yard TD pass
from Jackson McMillan to Jakob Culver with just two minutes remaining in the
half.
Granville took over in the second half, scoring three times,
for the victory.
Richards finished the night with 125 yards rushing and a
touchdown. He finished the regular season with 1,381 yards rushing. Richards
completed 3 of 7 passes for 55 yards and the TD. Ben Fitzpatrick added 70 yards
rushing on just four carries for MV, while Jake Hubbard had 50 yards rushing.
Dawson (31 yards) and Greyson Deem (40 yards) each had two receptions.
Luke Mullins led the Jacket defense with seven tackles. Liam
Richards and Dammon Wolfe each had five.
Kirby led the Blue Aces (7-3, 3-2) with 313 yards rushing
and two touchdowns.
Danville jumps on East Knox early in victory
The Danville football team jumped out to a 24-0 lead at
halftime and cruised to a 52-12 victory over East Knox in the annual Devil-Dog
game.
The Blue Devils (5-5, 3-4) scored twice in the first
quarter, then added another in the second to take the early lead. East Knox
(1-9, 1-6) tried to fight back, scoring twice in the third quarter to make it
32-12, but the Devils proved too much in the final frame and won.
Cyren Wallace was a one-man wrecking crew for the Devils,
racking up 153 yards rushing on just 15 carries and scored four times. Parker
Proper added 59 yards on six carries, while Nolan Ridgway had six carries for
58 yards.
Proper also completed 6 of 9 passes for 101 yards and a
touchdown. Aidan Mickley caught three of those passes for 71 yards and a score.
Defensively, Christopher Mosher had five solo tackles,
including two for losses, and Briggs Wallace had five to lead Danville. Jacob
Byers added four solo tackles. Danville sacked EK quarterback Jax Lester three
times.
Lester finished the night completing 9 of 17 passes for 114
yards. He also contributed 36 yards rushing and one touchdown. Landon Boyd
rushed 10 times for 38 yards, while Logan Clark caught four passes for 89
yards.
Caden Ridenour had a monster game defensively, recording 15
tackles. Boyd added nine, while Rush Beatty had eight and Lester and Logan
Hercenberg each had seven.
