Fredericktown girls edge Dalton to win Mapleton Fall Classic; MV’s Rush captures another title
Freddies take team crown by one point behind top-10 finishes from Blakesley, Swartzentruber, and Lavin, while Mount Vernon’s Lucy Rush wins the Pickerington North Panther Invitational in 18:24.

The Fredericktown girls’ cross-country team won the Mapleton
Fall Classic by the slimmest of margins.
The Freddies scored 43 points, edging out Dalton, which had
44.
Peyton Blakesley led the Freddies by finishing fourth
overall in 21:11.32. Elizabeth Swartzentruber (eighth, 21:39.80) and Gwen Lavin
(ninth, 21:39.94) both finished in the top 10. Madi Shade crossed the line in
22:46.42, followed by Angelina Overholt (22:54.74), Ella Flynn (23:03.80) and
Nula Hansen (23:54.03).
The Freddie boys finished fourth with 101 points. Keystone
won the event with 40.
Anson Wenger was the first Freddie to cross, placing 14th
in 17:27.67. Lincoln Snyder was right behind him, finishing 15th in 17:29.32.
He was followed by Darren Hartley (18:10.62), Allen Swartzentruber (18:12.06),
Gideon Rashley (18:26.00), Trace Armstrong (18:31.91) and Nolan Bender
(19:13.01).
MV’s Rush wins another individual title
Mount Vernon’s Lucy Rush won another individual title,
finishing first at the Pickerington North Panther Invitational. She crossed the
line in 18:24.35 and helped her team to a 20th-place showing in the
33-school event.
Nora de la Fuente Morcillo was the next Yellow Jacket
runner, finishing in 22:51.05. She was followed by Callie Peugh (23:46.06),
Amanda Misarti (23:51.48), Cora Stetler (25:33.78) and Madison Seng (30:09.34).
Centerburg also competed in the race, finishing 29th.
Payton Tucker was the first CHS runner, placing 19th in 20:08.79.
Brianna Giehl followed in 24:51.80, with other runners being Audrey Garner
(26:16.74), Ella Jackson (26:48.05), Gwennan Ellis (27:48.78) and Afton Ellis
(29:34.97).
Mount Vernon finished 16th out of 39 teams in the
boys’ race. Centerburg came in 23rd.
Calvin Heithaus led the Yellow Jackets, placing 31st
in 17:06.56. Owen Petrie finished the course in 17:44.95, followed by Gavin
Andrews (18:07.46), Brady Mills (19:21.12), Nathan Jose (19:22.48), Anderson
Seng (19:39.14) and Joey Butts (19:42.61).
Centerburg was led by Carter Netting, who came in 48th
place at 17:34.36. Andrew Dickhof was next at 17:42.24, followed by Noah
Matthews (19:02.58), Lane Kloss (19:19.60), Sam Dickhof (20:13.65), Mason Dawes
(20:40.60), Grayson Caudill (21:07.39) and Corbin Netting (21:11.18).
