Freddies boys race to 4-0 start with dominant opening stretch
Fredericktown posts four convincing wins to open the season, while girls earn two victories and bowlers stay competitive in KMAC play

The Fredericktown boys’ basketball team has started the
season on fire, winning its first four games in impressive fashion.
The Freddies (4-0) began the season with a 64-54 victory
over Crestview. Carson Rinehart led the Freddies with 19 points and six
rebounds. Gavin Toombs added 18 points and five rebounds, while Blake Sipes had
14 points and seven rebounds.
Fredericktown struggled in the first half in its next game
with Wynford but pulled away with a strong second half for a 65-41 win.
Rinehart poured in 22 points on 10 of 19 shooting to lead the Freddies. He also
pulled down seven rebounds and had eight steals. Toombs added 20 points, while
Sipes had eight points, 12 rebounds, three assists and three steals.
The Freddies wasted little time in disposing of Knox Morrow
Athletic Conference foe Cardington, 72-32, on Dec. 10. Leading 22-15 after one quarter,
the Freddies outscored the Pirates 43-13 in the next two quarters to blow the
game wide open.
Rinehart was on fire again from the floor, hitting 11 of 16
shots for 25 points to lead the Freddies. He also pulled down five rebounds,
had three assists and three steals. Toombs barely missed as well, hitting 6 of
8 shots for 14 points, while also grabbing seven rebounds and recording three
steals. Tanner Estep added 11 points, and Sipes had nine points, seven rebounds
and four steals.
Fredericktown finished up the week on Dec. 13, using a
strong fourth quarter to beat Harvest Prep, 73-60. Toombs had a huge night,
scoring 25 points and pulling down 10 rebounds to lead the Freddies. Sipes
added 17 points, eight rebounds and three assists, while Rinehart had 14
points, nine rebounds and four assists. Zane Luckmeier checked in with 12
points, seven rebounds and three steals.

Girls basketball
The Fredericktown girls’ basketball team needed an extra
period but were able to pull out a 61-54 victory over Loudonville in a Knox
Morrow Athletic Conference basketball game Dec. 10.
The Freddies were led by Mya Bryant, who had 18 points, 15
rebounds and three steals. Ella Bouton added 11 points, 11 rebounds and five
steals, while Gracyn Toombs had 11 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
Fredericktown held Danville to just two points in the second
quarter and went on to a 59-20 victory on Dec. 13.
Bryant led the Freddies with 18 points on 8 of 13 shooting
from the floor. She also grabbed five rebounds. Bouton added eight points,
seven assists, four rebounds and four steals, while Nula Hansen had seven
points and four rebounds.
Bowling
The Fredericktown girls’ bowling team is near the top of the
KMAC a quarter of the way through the season. The Lady Freddies currently sit
at 3-1 in the league and 3-2 overall.
Fredericktown fell to River Valley 1,467-1,431 on Dec. 10.
Maddie Bartlett led the Freddies with a 267 series. Kota Curtis fired a 240
series with Holly Hogle shooting 230.
The Freddies then fell on Dec. 11 to league-leading
Northmor, 1,894-1,601. Raegan Blanchard fired a 339 series with a high game of
191 to lead the Freddies. Bartlett shot 302.
Fredericktown bounced back to nip Crestline, 1,509-1,504, on
Dec. 12. Pilar Payne led the Freddies with a 285 series. Bartlett shot 264.
The Fredericktown boys’ team dropped two of three games this
week.
River Valley beat the Freddies, 2,096-1,608, on Dec. 10.
Jordan Moore led the Freddies with games of 207-198.
Fredericktown then fell to league-leading Northmor,
1,799-1,562. Moore fired games of 224-192 to lead the squad.
The Freddies bounced back to beat Crestline, 1,656-1,249, on
Dec. 12. Moore shot games of 210-201 to lead FHS, while Jason Kameron had games
of 140-146.
