Coffeehouse to feature musician Frye
Musician Steve Frye to perform Feb. 22, benefiting Doctors Without Borders.
First Congregational United Church of Christ, located at 200 North Main St. in Mount Vernon, is hosting a coffeehouse on Sunday, Feb. 22.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. There will be open mic slots available from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The featured artist, Steve Frye, will take the stage at 7:45 p.m.
Frye has played in various bands over the last 60 years and has entertained at many of the establishments in Knox County and beyond. He is a solo act but writes and records backing tracks for drums, bass guitar and a few other instruments to simulate an entire band. His music consists of popular blues and classic rock songs from the 50’s to current.
The event is free with donations accepted to benefit Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières. MSF brings critical medical care to people affected by conflict, disasters, epidemics, and social exclusion in over 70 countries around the world. MSF addresses three critical health care needs including access to healthcare in remote and underserved areas, urgent treatment of malnutrition, and infections disease treatment and prevention.
