Centerburg golfers advance to district; Northmor claims first KMAC title
Nick Meyers medals at both sectional and league finale as Trojans, Knights, and East Knox battle atop conference standings

The Centerburg
golf team qualified for district competition after finishing second in the Division
III sectional tournament Tuesday at Oakhaven Golf Course.
The
Trojans fired a 361 to finish as runner-up to Knox Morrow Athletic Conference
rival Northmor, which shot 353. The top two teams from the sectional advanced
to district play on Oct. 1 at Turnberry.
Nick Meyers
was the overall medalist, firing a one-over-par score of 73. Julian Meyers and
Vinny Morgan each shot 95 for the Trojans, while Samuel Lloyd shot 98.
In the
Division II sectional at Oakhaven, Fredericktown finished sixth with a team
score of 437.
Cooper
Lowe led the Freddies with an 89. Braxton Horlacher was next at 102, followed
by Hunter Robertson (121) and Jolie Cooper (125).
KMAC golf
A
third-place finish at the final tournament was enough for Northmor to capture
its first Knox Morrow Athletic Conference golf title.
The
Knights shot 363 to finish third at the tournament Sept. 18 at Vernon View Golf
Course. That enabled them to finish the season with a 26-4 record in league
play, two wins better than both Centerburg and East Knox (24-6).
Centerburg
won the third and final tournament, shooting a 349 team total. East Knox was
second at 357, followed by Northmor, Fredericktown (377), Cardington-Lincoln
(416) and Loudonville (424).
Centerburg’s
Nick Meyers was medalist at the tournament, carding a 4-under-par score of 68.
The Trojans also got a 91 from Sam Lloyd, a 93 from Julian Meyers and a 97 from
Vinny Morgan.
East
Knox finished second behind the strong play of Beau Keller, who fired a 76.
A.J. Baxter came in at 86, followed by Jeff Cook (92), Keagan Harris (102) and
Trygg Waugh (107).
The
Freddies were led by Cooper Lowe, who shot a 79. Thatcher Motter was next at
86, followed by Braxton Horlacher (93), Hunter Robertson (119) and Jolie Cooper
(125).
