Casino Night brings laughter, prizes, and community fun to the Ohio Eastern Star Home
Mount Vernon residents enjoy games, prizes, and community at retirement home event.
The campus of The Ohio Eastern Star Home was buzzing with excitement on Thursday, Jan. 29, as residents enjoyed an energetic and festive Casino Night filled with games, prizes, and plenty of smiles.
Casino tables were active throughout the event, featuring resident favorites such as Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, Texas Hold ’Em, and creative games of Hole-In-One Bean Bag Toss and Spin The Wheel. Each game offered opportunities to win lottery ticket prizes, adding to the fun and friendly competition.
Adding to the authentic casino atmosphere, staff members Sue McCabe and Amanda Seeley donned full costumes to assist residents, and Holly Grimmer served as Blackjack dealer, engaging with residents, cheering them on, and sharing plenty of laughs. The immersive experience made the event feel both special and personal, strengthening the sense of connection between residents and staff.
Residents also enjoyed a variety of refreshments from the casino bar, rounding out the afternoon with delicious treats and social time. The event was filled with energy, conversation, and shared enjoyment — an example of the vibrant lifestyle available on campus.
The Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon is a Continuous Care Retirement Community, offering residents a loving and enriching environment where they can enjoy active, engaging experiences while having the reassurance of future support. As care needs change, residents have the confidence of knowing their needs will be met all on one campus, without the stress or disruption of another move.
CEO, Michele Engelbach, said “Events like Casino Day reflect the community’s commitment to fostering joy, connection, and meaningful living at every stage of life.”
