Future nurses recognized for excellence at MVNU
Thirteen inducted into International Honor Society of Nursing
Mount Vernon Nazarene University recently inducted 13 nursing students into the Rho Nu at-Large Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing during a ceremony held in the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Auditorium on the MVNU campus.
Sigma Theta Tau International (Sigma) is the world’s leading honor society for nursing, recognizing excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service. The organization includes more than 100,000 active members and more than 600 chapters worldwide, connecting nurse leaders committed to advancing healthcare through education, research, and clinical practice.
The Rho Nu at-Large Chapter — a joint chapter of Mount Vernon Nazarene University and Ashland University — was established on April 20, 2002. This year, a total of 18 nursing students from the two institutions were inducted in recognition of their academic excellence, clinical skills, and leadership in the nursing profession.
Students inducted from MVNU were Felicity Cline, Caroline Couch, Elizabeth Evanshine, Malia Forbes, Marisa Heisey, Dallas Hostetler, Krista Jenkins, Kristi Jordan, Ariana Mast, Emma McCombs, Eliana Morgan, Emma Thamarus, and Ethan Throop.
“Congratulations to the new inductees of Sigma Thea Tau, nursing’s international honor society,” said Dr. Debra Garee, Division of Health and Life Science Chair. “It is a distinct honor and privilege for our students to join more than 100,000 members in over 100 countries. Sigma represents the highest standards of nursing scholarship, leadership, and clinical excellence, equipping nurses with the resources and support to advance nursing practice, enhance research, and impact healthcare throughout the world. We are proud of their accomplishment.”
