Blue Devils' season ends at hands of Flames
Shekinah Christian edges Danville, 44-42, in Div. VII thriller
Danville’s magical boys basketball season came to an end Tuesday at the hands of Shekinah Christian.
The Blue Devils struggled offensively in the second half as the top-seeded Flames won the Div. VII district semifinal game, 44-42, at Fairbanks High School.
Danville (21-4) tied its best season in school history, as the 2012-13 team also finished with 21 wins (21-5).
The Devils opened the game strong, taking a 16-12 lead after one quarter. The lead remained at two at halftime (26-24) as neither team was able to take control.
The third quarter led to their demise, though, as Danville scored just five points and Shekinah Christian (24-1) took the lead.
Danville had an opportunity to tie or win the game after the Flames missed two free throws with 11.9 seconds left, but weren’t able to hit the bucket.
Aidan Mickley led the Blue Devils with 10 points. Ashton Spaulding and Parker Proper each had seven, while Carson Proper had five.
Shekinah was led by Camden Miller, who scored 18 points.
