The Knox Historical Society will present the third program of the Autumn season at 7:30 on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
Featured speaker will be author Mark Jordan, presenting several local mysteries also to be told in his forthcoming book, In These Haunted Hills: Ghosts of the Ohio Highlands. He will be focusing on the local chapters, and showing some pictures as well.
Featured will be the folklore of Sarah’s Grave (near Greer), Susie’s Grave (between Mount Vernon and Fredericktown), and the ghosts of Kenyon College. If time allows, he can mention three chapters about Malabar Farm.
Jordan writes a History of Knox County column every Saturday on KnoxPages. Attendees might recall his many years writing as the entertainment critic for the former Mount Vernon News. He also led tours for many years at Malabar Farm State Park, and created three plays about key Malabar personalities — plays that were produced in the big barn at Malabar itself.
The museum is located at 875 Harcourt Road in Mount Vernon. The program starts at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
All persons interested in area history are invited to attend.
Looking ahead, the final program of the year will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 5. It will be “Show and Tell Night.” (Details will be provided in a news release in late October.)
As has been the case recently, Historical Society officials will be present well before the program begins, and will remain afterwards, to welcome attendees to visit the Museum’s regular displays.
