Victorian House Museum Opens for Holidays with Brightman Family Christmas Theme
Step back in time to 1900 as the 28-room Victorian mansion transforms into a historic family Christmas celebration filled with dazzling decorations and nostalgic charm.
The halls are decked, the lights are twinkling and the spirit of Christmas past is alive once more at the Victorian House Museum. This holiday season, the mansion opens its doors with a heartwarming theme: Brightman Family Christmas/Holidays at the Mansion.
Imagine the year is 1900. The Brightman family has just returned home, arms full of evergreen boughs, boxes of ornaments and trays of holiday treats.. That’s the enchanting world visitors will discover as they tour the 28-room mansion dressed in dazzling holiday décor.
Every corner of the home tells a story — trees sparkling with heirloom-inspired ornaments, mantelpieces draped in garland, tables set for Christmas dinner and cozy parlors that seem ready for family gatherings. Volunteers and local decorators have poured their creativity into each room, ensuring that the museum feels both elegant and welcoming, just as it would have for the Brightman family more than a century ago.
Guests are invited to wander through rooms aglow with Victorian holiday traditions, experience the mansion during special evening tours, and savor the nostalgia of Christmases past, surrounded by beauty, warmth and history.
“This theme truly brings the Victorian House to life,” said Mark Boley, director of the museum. “It’s as if the Brightman family has just stepped out for a moment, leaving the lights on to welcome guests into their holiday celebration.”
The Victorian House Museum’s Brightman Family Christmas will be open Nov. 15 through Dec. 31, with hours and community events throughout the season, Sunday through Thursday from 1-4 p.m. and Friday/Saturday from 1-8 p.m. The grand opening is Saturday, Nov. 15 from 4-9 p.m.
Holiday tickets can be purchased in advance at https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/holiday-admission.
The Victorian House Museum, operated by the Holmes County Historical Society, is located at 484 Wooster Rd. in Millersburg.
