A treasured annual activity is coming to the area one day prior to Easter, and kids are eager to be the focal point of it.

The annual Troy Miller Agency Easter Egg Hunt will take place Saturday, April 4, with the first big splash coming at the former Shreve Elementary School grounds at 1 p.m. and the second event taking place at Berlin Elementary at 4 p.m.

While this event is plenty of work for the staff and volunteers at Troy Miller Agency, where they fill 5,000 plastic eggs with treats and goodies for each location, it is something that is well worth the effort for Miller and his staff.

“Troy has always made a point about being heavily involved in our communities, and one of the biggest things we want to do is to impact the youth of our communities,” Brad Dodson said. “We want to make where we live a better place, and this event is one that invites families and especially kids to interact and do something really fun. Troy has always used his marketing funds to make sure that the schools, community and especially the kids are involved.”

These two events have experienced huge turnouts over the years, with the grounds flooded first with the 5,000 eggs scattered everywhere, then with children who like a flash flood fill the grounds with laughter and joy as they gather eggs.

The Shreve event gets an added boost with Commercial & Savings Bank contributing to the day. Its help allows the event to host something special — the golden eggs that are filled with not only candy, but also a special note that wins the finder a special Easter basket.

Each event has different areas separated for a variety of age brackets of children, making it fair for all to collect plenty of eggs. The event is open to kids age 1 through junior high.

With opportunity to have children’s pictures taken with the Easter Bunny, it adds to the basket full of memories that are created.

“The successful hunts at both schools are sure to be talked about long after the last snacks are eaten,” Dodson said.

However, most importantly, it is about community, unity and cherishing a holiday season meant to be shared together.

“There’s always plenty of laughter, cheers and the excitement of cracking those plastic eggs open to find what’s inside,” Dodson said.

Photos of the golden egg recipients will be taken at each event.
