Millersburg Village Council met Sept. 8 and discussed the following:
—Design and review board approved window replacements at American Hall.
—Planning and zoning passed a resolution recommending approval of an annexation and change of zoning for Jordan Properties on East Jones Street. On Oct. 13 at 6:45 p.m., a public hearing will take place for the change of zoning.
—The village met with the County and Ohio Regional Development Corporation (grant admin) to finalize the scope of the downtown sidewalk project. With the funds available, the village will be able to complete both sides of Jackson between Mad Anthony and Washington, as well as the north block of Jackson between Washington and Clay. Now Quicksall can finalize its costs and proceed with an agreement for engineering.
—Village Administrator Nate Troyer submitted a pre-application for OPWC funding for the Wooster Road waterline replacement project. The village also will apply for CDBG funding for this project. If both applications are successful, very little local funding should be required.
—Council received seven responses from potential solicitors. Council determined the next step in the selection process is to conduct interviews.
—The village has the old village entrance and Village Hall signs, some playground equipment, and a desk that are no longer needed. Council agreed to sell these items on GovDeals.
—Tom Wengerd has resigned from the design and review board. The village is currently looking for a downtown building owner to sit on that board.
—Sept. 20 will be the Truck Parade, which will leave the fairgrounds and head through downtown after that.
—The village is waiting for ODOT to stripe South Clay Street.
—The new water bill system will be implemented in conjunction with the old system for the next water billing cycle.
—DORA stickers, cups and sidewalk markers are here and will be put in. As soon as that’s done, DORA will begin.
—The speed limit signs on North and South Clay streets are installed.
—Hydrant flushing is completed.
—Mayor Kelly Hoffee met with the new Pomerene CEO. She has hired a recruiter to bring doctors and other medical professionals to Holmes County.
—A discussion ensued concerning the trees in the downtown. Council asked Assistant Administrator Chad Cline to bring some tree species that might work for the downtown. Tree City will have a meeting Oct. 15 at 6 p.m.
