Weekly Blessing
Because in Jesus you now know
Angela Chapman's poem reflects personal transformation through Christian beliefs.
The old is gone;
The new is put on.
The ways of walking in dark are no more.
The word of God reached below the core.
The seeds of faith were planted deep.
The Lord watered, and dark fell into a heap.
One by one the evil fell in a crack,
Covered by the blood in a covenant pact.
The old life fell away,
When crimson blood covered sin that day.
Every knee that bows to the Lord our king
Has chains broken from life's terrible sting.
Freedom takes place and springs to the top,
Where the old ways were but now stop.
Stepping up on solid ground
Is where the solid rock of Christ is found.
Bad fruits are no longer on that tree,
For when you repented, you became free.
Now, instead of your tree that was dying,
You're alive and of Christ you're testifying.
You have stepped out in faith by believing
In Jesus and now his forgiveness you're receiving.
You found the lamp and light for your feet.
You're now off that wide road with its heat.
Your feet are held steady with your name in God's book,
The lamb's book of life as steps to the cross you took.
You asked Jesus to forgive you as his word said.
Now you walk among the living and not the dead.
You have joy in your heart and pep in your step,
Relieved of your guilt because Jesus paid your debt.
Cleansed inside is what took place,
And now God's light shines on your face.
Forgiven and redeemed is now your story,
Because of Jesus, heaven's glory.
You're washed white as snow,
Because in Jesus you now know.
