Loudonville Library announces April events

Programs include a seed library, chess club and various workshops for all ages throughout April

The Loudonville Public Library will host a variety of programs in April for all ages including educational activities, crafts, book clubs and take-home kits, with many requiring registration and limited space.

The Loudonville Public Library announced its schedule of programs and events for April.

The library will offer a Seed Library through April 30, allowing patrons to pick up free seeds to plant at home while supplies last. The program celebrates America 250 by encouraging community engagement, self-sufficiency and homegrown produce.

A Community Chess Club will meet at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 2. The program is open to all ages and skill levels.

Book Club To-Go will begin Monday, April 6, featuring “Practice Makes Perfect” by Sarah Adams. Participants can pick up a monthly kit with a book, discussion questions and an activity while supplies last.

A Teen Take-Home Cooking Challenge featuring pizza bagel bites also will begin April 6. Kits are available at the youth desk for sixth grade through 12th grade on a first come, first served basis.

Pinterest Power — Floral Book Vase will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 7 and 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 8. Registration is required, and each session is limited to 12 participants.

Homeschool Hangout — Springy Library Tote is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 9. Supplies are limited.

The library will open at 1 p.m. Friday, April 10, due to staff participation in a workplace development session.

Teen Brain Teaser To-Go will begin Monday, April 13, offering puzzle packs for sixth grade through 12th grade. Prizes are awarded for completed puzzles on a first come, first served basis.

Moms’ Night Out will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, April 13. Participants will create dried flower acrylic bookmarks while having refreshments. Child care activities will be available for age 2 and older. Registration is required, with space limited to 20 adults.

Storytime will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesdays, April 14, 21 and 28. The program is for children age 2-5 and includes stories, songs, fingerplays and crafts. Caregivers must attend, and younger siblings also can attend.

Kids Club — Earth Day Activities will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 15 for children K-3, featuring hands-on activities, games and surprises.

Fairytale Glass Terrarium is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16 for K-6. Registration is required, and participation is limited to 12.

An Adult Book Discussion will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, April 17 in the Golden Center. The featured book is “The Lemon Orchard” by Luanne Rice. Books are available at the circulation desk one month in advance. New members are welcome.

Spice Club will begin Monday, April 20, offering take-home kits with information and recipes while supplies last.

Teen Take & Makes — Gilded Insects also will begin April 20. Kits are available at the youth desk for sixth grade through 12th grade on a first come, first served basis.

Macrame and Mocktails will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 21. Registration is required, with space limited to 12 participants.

Sip the Rainbow is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 23 for K-6. Registration is required, and participation is limited to 12.

Board Games After School will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 27 for sixth grade through 12th grade.

Cozy Evenings: Crafts & Cottage Skills for Everyone — Herb Garden will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 28. Registration is required, and space is limited to 15 participants.

Bowling for Books will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 30. The program is open to K-6 and features trivia games, knocking down pins and earning a free book to take home. Registration is required, and participation is limited to 16.
