Holmes County Library announces April events
Programs include storytime, a creative writing contest and book clubs across multiple locations
The Holmes County District Public Library will offer a variety of April programs for all ages including storytimes, a writing contest, hands-on activities, a donation drive and book clubs.

The Holmes County District Public Library has announced its lineup of programs and events for April, offering activities for children, teens and adults at multiple library locations.
The library’s annual creative writing contest is underway, with submissions accepted through April 27. Kids, teens and adults are invited to submit original short stories or poetry. Entry forms and contest rules are available at the Holmes County Central Library in Millersburg and the East Branch Library in Walnut Creek. Prizes will be awarded to the top entry in each age group.
Weekly storytime programs will be offered throughout April for children age 2-5 accompanied by an adult. Storytime will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays at the East Branch Library April 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29; at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays at the Killbuck Library April 7, 14, 21 and 28; and at 10:30 a.m. Fridays at the Holmes County Central Library April 3, 10, 17 and 24.
The Holmes County Central Library also will host Little Learners Playgroup at 11 a.m. Fridays, April 3, 10, 17 and 24. Children up to age 5 and their caregivers are invited to participate in hands-on activities that promote reading and social skills. Snacks will be provided.
Doodle in 3D will take place at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 2 at the Holmes County Central Library. Tweens and teens age 8 and older will use 3D pens and templates to create projects. Registration is required.
Paws to Read is scheduled from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 11 at the Holmes County Central Library. Children can read to therapy dogs from Caring Therapy Canines in the children’s department.
The library will host a Spring Cleaning Donation Drive from April 13-24 in partnership with Goodwill Industries of Wayne and Holmes Counties. Donation bins will be located near the main entrance of the Holmes County Central Library.
Plant It Forward will be held April 20-25 at the Holmes County Central Library. Visitors can pick up an Earth Day-Arbor Day Take & Make Grab Bag in the children’s department, which includes materials to create a self-watering planter.
Adult book clubs will meet Tuesday, April 28 at the Holmes County Central Library. The 1 p.m. session will discuss “Smoky the Brave” by Damien Lewis, and the 6 p.m. session will feature “The Correspondent” by Virginia Evans. Books are available for pickup at the help desk.
