David Phelps to perform in Sugarcreek
Grammy winner brings Speak of Love Tour to Ohio Star Theater on April 4
Grammy Award winner David Phelps will bring his Speak of Love Tour to the Ohio Star Theater, 1387 Old, OH-39, Sugarcreek, at 7 p.m. April 4.
In support of his recent album, the Speak of Love Tour offers an evening of music ranging from standards to Broadway to inspirational genres.
Phelps’ vocal range, which extends more than three octaves, coupled with his gift for communicating a song, has led to performances at venues including the Sydney Opera House, Lincoln Center, The Metropolitan Opera, the Kennedy Center Honors and the Grand Ole Opry.
He has received numerous Dove Awards, Grammy Awards and multiple platinum-selling recording projects. His releases, including the live DVDs “The Best Of David Phelps” and “It Must Be Christmas,” have reached No. 1 and No. 2 on the Billboard charts and have been featured on television networks, including PBS.
In October 2022, Phelps starred in a concert presentation of the musical “Children of Eden” at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago. The production featured music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by John Caird, with Phelps appearing as Adam/Noah alongside Michelle Williams, Koryn Hawthorne, Sam Tsui and Randal Keith. Following its staged reading, the Chicagoland Theatre Fund will present a one-weekend-only streaming of “Children of Eden in Concert: The 2022 Live Chicago Staged Reading” in April.
