The Greater Akron affiliate was established in 1987 and serves Summit, Medina, Portage, Wayne and Stark counties.

They offer support groups for grandparents, parents and teens with autism. Their mission is to create connections, empowering everyone in the autism community with resources needed to live fully by creating a world where everyone in the autism community is connected to the support they need, when they need it.

On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, the Uniontown Lions Club presented a check for $1,000 to the Autism Society of Greater Akron for its continued programs in creating connections.
