Rev. Christman to speak at Lenten luncheon
Prairie Chapel pastor to deliver message at The Presbyterian Church in Coshocton on March 18
The fifth Lenten Luncheon will be held Wednesday, March 18 with the Rev. Carolyn Christman as the speaker.
Christman is the newly appointed pastor to Prairie Chapel Global Methodist Church. Her message will be “The Promise of the Resurrected Body” with scripture taken from 1 Corinthians 15:35-52. The luncheons are held at The Presbyterian Church, 142 N. Fourth St., across from the court square. They begin at 11:45 a.m. and conclude at 12:45 p.m.
The Rev. Christman spent most of her life in West Central Ohio, north of the Dayton area. She had a 20-year career as an instrumental music teacher before entering the ministry. She is a graduate of Bowling Green State University and holds a Master of Divinity degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton. Although she grew up in an unchurched home, God drew her into the faith through music. Christman has additional education in pastoral supervision, leadership and conflict management. She was married to her husband, Don, for nearly 34 years before his passing in 2022. Four adult children and two grandchildren complete the family.
Churches supporting the luncheon with workers, soups and/or pies include Prairie Chapel Global Methodist Church; Central Christian Church; Coshocton Christian Tabernacle and Solid Rock Foursquare Church. Also, in a supporting role is the Fellowship of Christian Athletes with workers representing area high schools. Church Women United, led by Christa Citola, provide leadership for the event. Those attending have the option of a choice of soup and dessert. Cheese on the tables is donated by Pearl Valley Cheese.
A donation is accepted to help defray expenses. All money received above expenses is used toward sponsoring the Clothe a Child Project that provides an outfit and shoes for children at the start of school.
Parking can be found adjacent to the church or in the city parking lot nearby.
