Carrollton High School names Girdlestone and Macke October Students of the Month
Honorees recognized for academic excellence, leadership and community involvement, with scholarship eligibility at year’s end
Carrollton High School has named Anthony Girdlestone and Railey Macke its Students of the Month for October.
Girdlestone is the son of Kelly Ossler of Carrollton. He has two brothers, Thomas, 21, and Joey, 32. He is involved in Academic Challenge and National Honor Society. He enjoys watching football, spending time with friends and family, golfing and attending sporting events. He plans to attend Bowling Green State University and major in business analytics with hopes of becoming a data analyst or market research analyst. He said his mother has been his greatest influence because she has always pushed him to become the person he is and encourages him when times are difficult. His advice to others is to work toward their goals until they reach them.
Macke is the daughter of Wendy and Adam Macke of Carrollton. She has a brother, Grant, 12, a seventh grader, and a sister, Reid, 14, a freshman. Her activities include 4-H, Youth to Youth, CES Mentoring, Chamber Chorus, marching band, track and field, theater, Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church, National Honor Society and student directing middle school shows. She enjoys skiing in the winter and visiting haunted houses. She plans to attend The Ohio State University and major in biology before continuing to graduate school to work in a research lab. She said her family has influenced her by modeling a strong work ethic and commitment. Her advice for success is to have passion for what you do.
As Students of the Month, both become eligible for a $500 scholarship provided by McFadden Insurance Co. to one boy and one girl at the conclusion of the 2025-26 school year. The seniors, who are selected by staff, will have their photos displayed in the Commons at CHS.
