Carroll commissioners approve annex window contract
Carlo Construction won the $3,960 project to enclose two former pool room windows at the Moody Avenue building for insulation and security
Carroll County commissioners approved a contract for window improvements at the county annex building during their June 15 meeting, continuing ongoing upgrades to the Moody Avenue facility.
Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds Ed Eick presented quotes from contractors to enclose two 8-by-12-foot windows located in the building's former pool room area.
Eick said the project is intended to improve both insulation and security at the annex building.
Supreme Roofing submitted a quote of $7,450 for the work, while Carlo Construction LLC submitted a quote of $3,960.
Commissioners approved the lower quote from Carlo Construction.
The project will involve framing the openings with 2-by-6 construction, installing insulation and matching the building's existing exterior metal siding.
“I’m wanting to get those closed up for two reasons, to better insulate the building for one and security purposes for the other,” Eick said.
Commissioners amended the proposal to require R-19 insulation instead of R-13 insulation because of the wall thickness.
Commissioner Donald Leggett II said the adjustment would slightly increase the project cost but would provide additional insulation benefits.
In other business, commissioners:
—PAID bills totaling $76,633.04.
—RECEIVED the weekly report from Dog Warden Merle Long, showing one dog impounded, three adopted, none redeemed and no euthanizations. The report also included three citations for no dog license, two citations for failure to restrain a dog and one citation involving a nuisance dog.
—ESTABLISHED two new funds required by the state auditor related to Ohio Water Development Authority projects, including lift station improvements and the Stony Lake project.
