Wayne County voter registration deadline is Oct. 6

Monday, Oct. 6 is the deadline to register for the Nov. 4 primary/special election

In Wayne County, Oct. 6 is the deadline to register for the primary/special election to be held Tuesday, Nov. 4.

The Wayne County Board of Elections is reminding residents that Monday, Oct. 6 is the deadline to register for the primary/special election to be held Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Voters may visit www.VoteOhio.gov or www.WayneCountyOH.gov to register online, check their voter registration, change their address, locate their polling place, view sample ballots and find absentee voter information. There have been some permanent precinct and polling location changes in Wayne County beginning with this election.

You also can register in person at one of the following locations by the registration deadline:

—Wayne County Board of Elections Office, 200 Vanover St. (second floor), Wooster. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

—The Ohio Secretary of State’s Office.

—BMV or Deputy Registrars.

—Office of designated agencies including The Department of Job & Family Services, The Department of Health (including WIC), The Department of Mental Health, The Department of Developmental Disabilities, and any state-assisted college or university that provides assistance to disabled students

—County treasurer’s office.

—Any public library.

—Any public high school or vocational school.

Qualifications to register for this election include the following:

—Must be a citizen of the United States.

—Must be 18 years of age on or before the Nov. 4 general election.

—Must be a resident of Ohio 30 days prior to the day of the election.

—Not incarcerated for a felony conviction.

—Have not been declared incompetent for voting purposes by a probate court.

—Have not been permanently disenfranchised for violations of election laws.

In-person absentee (early) voting will begin Tuesday, Oct. 7. Visit www.WayneCountyOH.gov to view a calendar with in-person absentee voting hours. Ohio law requires all voters to have a valid photo ID to vote in person.
