Pink Friday was a term created in 2020 as a nationwide movement held on the Friday before Black Friday to encourage shoppers to discover and support small retailers during the holiday season. The event allows local small businesses to highlight their brand and products and to share their businesses with the community before the holiday rush begins in earnest on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This year the event was held nationwide Nov. 21.
Orrville businesses The Bouquet Shop and Salt and Honey participated in this year's event.

Sixty-eight cents of every dollar spent at a local small business remains in the local community. Forty-three-and-a-half percent of the U.S.’s gross domestic product is from small businesses. In 2024 there were over 3 million small retailers. Almost half of all small businesses are owned by women.
