Wayne County Children Services announced Ohio’s Triple P, Positive Parenting Program pilot, which WCCS helped shape through its participation and results, will soon expand statewide.

Two years ago Triple P launched a pilot program to improve access and effectiveness by offering yearlong memberships to its online curriculum, enhanced digital resources and limited coaching sessions with Nationwide Children’s Hospital. WCCS was among the first agencies to join.

While the pilot emphasized online resources, WCCS supplemented these with hands-on support for families during home visits and visitations. This approach set Wayne County apart. Initially allotted six access codes for the first quarter, WCCS consistently requested additional codes to ensure more families could benefit.

Wayne County led the way in family participation and program utilization among the 15 counties involved in the expanded trial. This success helped prove the program’s effectiveness and paved the way for its upcoming statewide rollout.

Lisa Burgett, WCCS’s parenting expert, played a key role in developing the blended approach, which later served as a model for other counties.

“It is difficult to overstate how dedicated Lisa is to helping families identify and build on existing strengths while teaching new skills and introducing novel approaches to create long-lasting foundations for change," said Brandon Holman, social services supervisor. "Where others see barriers, Lisa sees opportunity. She is a singularity in her field of expertise, and the families of Wayne County and WCCS are extraordinarily lucky to have her on their side."
