Wooster City Schools seeks community input for new strategic plan

Community invited to participate in focus groups and surveys for shaping district goals.

With its 2023-25 strategic plan now complete, Wooster City Schools is developing a new strategic plan to guide the district’s decision-making and align goals around student success for the next three to five years.

The district is again partnering with Impact Group, a firm specializing in strategic planning and community engagement for school districts, to support the strategic planning process.

The process will focus on evaluating current practices, identifying future needs and establishing student-centered goals informed by community input. A comprehensive strategic plan provides direction and accountability while helping Wooster City Schools respond to changing educational, workforce and community needs.

“Strategic planning gives us a structured way to align our work and make informed decisions,” Superintendent Gabe Tudor said. “It helps ensure that our goals are intentional, transparent and aligned with the needs of our students.”

Community engagement is a key component of Wooster City Schools’ strategic planning process. District staff, parents and community members will have multiple opportunities to share feedback through focus groups and a survey.

An in-person focus group will be held at 7 p.m. March 10 in the Wooster High School library. A virtual focus group will be held at 7 p.m. March 12, with the meeting link available on the district website and social media.

The community survey will be available from Feb. 23 through March 20. The online survey will be available on the district website and social media, and paper copies will be available at any building office.

Feedback collected through the focus groups and survey will be analyzed to inform the development of Wooster City Schools’ strategic goals and help shape the plan, scheduled to be drafted later this year.

“Meaningful community input strengthens the strategic plan and the outcomes it produces,” Tudor said. “This is a vital opportunity for our community to help shape the future of Wooster City Schools and its students.”
