Orrville Public Library encourages creativity and reading with March events
Children and adults can join free creative sessions starting March 5 at Orrville Public Library.
Children’s Crafternoon at Orrville Public Library is offered for kids in third grade through sixth grade and provides an opportunity to explore various creative techniques and media, with projects varying each month.
The Crafternoon Friday, March 6 will begin at 4 p.m., and participants will explore reverspective environment art. This type of artwork is inspired by Patrick Hughes, who is well-known for his optical and visual illusions. Registration for this free program will begin Feb. 20 and can be completed by clicking the event on the library’s website calendar at www.orrville.lib.oh.us or by calling the children’s department at 330-683-1065.
The library’s next Coffee & Crafts session, designed for age 16 and over, will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 5. Participants will join library staff and staff members of the Orrville YMCA to use felt to make a spring leaf garland, with all supplies provided. Registration for this free program will begin Feb. 19 and is available by clicking the event on the website calendar or by calling the information desk.
The library also is reminding students in fifth grade through eighth grade to submit the number of minutes they have read for Orrville Public Library’s Winter Brain Freeze Challenge. Students have until Feb. 28 to submit their reading minutes. Those who reach 300 minutes will earn a treat coupon or small prize, and all winter entries will be eligible for a grand prize.
The Spring Challenge will begin March 1. For more information stop by the information desk or call the library.
