Ohio's Hospice seeks volunteers in Wooster
Spring training session set for Feb. 16 at Akron Road location.
Nonprofit hospice organizations rely on volunteers to help provide comfort, dignity and human connection to patients and families facing end-of-life journeys. While medical teams address physical needs, hospice volunteers offer something equally vital: presence, empathy and support.
Volunteers serve in many ways including patient companionship, caregiver respite, administrative assistance and bereavement support. Often, their most meaningful contribution is simply being there — listening, offering reassurance or sitting quietly with someone who does not want to be alone.
Recruiting hospice volunteers requires outreach and honest communication. Individuals drawn to this work are often motivated by compassion, personal experience and a desire to make a difference. Clear role descriptions, comprehensive training and ongoing support help ensure volunteers are prepared for the emotional nature of hospice care.
Ohio's Hospice will host its spring training class Feb. 16 at 6 p.m. at 1900 Akron Road, Wooster. Anyone interested in attending can email Estoyle@ohioshospice.org for more information.
