Dalton Historical Society releases 2026 calendar celebrating America’s 250th anniversary
New calendar features decade-by-decade local photos, honors Dalton Gazette’s 150th, and supports preservation efforts
Dalton Community Historical Society has published its 2026 calendar, which has America’s 250th anniversary as its theme. The large photograph for each month represents a decade in Dalton’s history, from the 1860s — with one of their earliest photos — to the 1970s, which includes photos of the Dalton High School Class of 1976.
“Our calendars are available at Ambolina’s and Dalton Hardware,” said Francis Woodruff, society president. “We’ll also have them available at Dalton Holidays Festival’s business open house on Dec. 5 and at our Dalton Historical Society open house on Dec. 7.”
The calendar also includes a tribute to The Dalton Gazette’s 150th anniversary.
Calendars are $10 each. This annual fundraiser supports the society's work to preserve and display Dalton's history. To have a calendar mailed, send a check for $13 (which includes postage) along with name and address to Dalton Historical Society, P.O. Box 273, Dalton, OH 44618.
A holiday open house will be held Dec. 7 from 1-4 p.m. Past photographs, recently donated by Dalton United Methodist Church, will be on display. Many photos recall the 1950s through the 1970s, including the popular ox roasts, which church members hosted at Dalton Park. Open house guests will be invited to help identify people in the photographs. The society’s three museums will be decorated for the holidays, and holiday treats will be served. The event is free to the public.
Dalton Community Historical Society is located at 115 E. Main St. in Dalton. For more information call Woodruff at 330-465-9108 or email daltonhistoricalsociety@gmail.com.
