The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Old Town Graveyard, next to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and is sponsored by the Friends of the Cemetery. It will begin with a wreath-laying ceremony at the graves of three Revolutionary War soldiers who are buried in the cemetery. Members of a Continental Army regiment and militia unit will participate.
Appearances and talks with the “spirits” of early American characters such as George and Martha Washington, Betsy Ross, Paul Revere and Sybil Ludington will take place throughout the day. Also telling their stories will be characters from early Medina: Austin Badger, Captain and Mrs. Munson, Jim Smith, and Rufus and Mrs. Ferris. A dulcimer and fiddler will lift spirits, along with the early American singing group, Maidens Kiss.
Early American crafters will display and demonstrate their handiwork, and children can enjoy games and activities from that time period. Visitors can remember the day with numerous photo opportunities.
