This spring, learn how climate change is affecting local wetlands at Wetland Wonders, a screening of PBS Western Reserve’s original series “By Nature’s Design: Exploring Our Native Wildlife,” followed by a walk-and-talk tour of nearby wetlands.
The event will be held in partnership with the Medina County Park District on Saturday, May 2, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Oenslager Nature Center in Wadsworth.
PBS Western Reserve will screen the season one finale of “By Nature’s Design,” which explores how local wetlands adapt to a changing climate. To celebrate Earth Month and the first anniversary of the series premiere, attendees will also have the opportunity to see a teaser trailer for season two.
“By Nature’s Design” is a docuseries offering insights into the science behind the region’s ecosystems. It is the recipient of the Division 2 Public Media Award for Youth Media Education, presented by the National Educational Telecommunications Association.
“Spending time outdoors is good for the mind, body and soul. Research has shown that opportunities for outdoor learning can enhance creativity, strengthen cognitive development and positively transform our physical and mental health,” said Shelley Tender, interpretive services manager for Medina County Park District.
“Every event we plan focuses on bringing our mission of lifelong learning and connection beyond the screen through memorable experiences we hope bring our community closer together while deepening our understanding of the world around us,” said Stephanie Pacifico, PBS Western Reserve marketing manager.
Wetland Wonders is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Attendance is limited to ensure a quality experience. Registration is open at PBSWesternReserve.org.
Oenslager Nature Center is located at 6100 Ridge Road, Wadsworth.
