Medina United Church of Christ, Congregational will again deliver Easter bags to local children with incarcerated parents as part of its Holy Week outreach.
The church will bless 43 Easter bags on Palm Sunday, March 29, continuing a tradition now in its 17th year. Since the project began in 2010, more than 570 bags have been delivered to children in the community.
"While these children often face unique emotional, logistical and financial challenges, this small act of kindness offers hope, joy and a tangible expression of love during a season centered on renewal," said church mission team member Becky Bauer. "Caring for these families reflects our mission: to be welcoming, loving and to serve with compassion. This project shares the message that every child is seen, valued and deeply loved."
Palm Sunday worship services will be held at 8:15, 9 and 10:30 a.m.
The church will also offer several additional opportunities for worship during Holy Week. A Maundy Thursday service with a meal and time for reflection in a prayer garden will take place April 2 at 7 p.m.
On Good Friday, April 3, the church will screen the documentary “Bad Faith” at 7 p.m. The 2024 film explores the dangers of Christian nationalism.
Easter Sunday, April 5, will include four worship opportunities, beginning with a sunrise service at 7 a.m. at the Spring Grove Cemetery chapel in Medina. Services will also be held at 8:15, 9 and 10:30 a.m. at the church, followed by an Easter egg hunt for children after the final service.
The church is located at 217 E. Liberty St., Medina, on the square.
