‘Crash Course’ aimed at helping gardeners get growing
OSU Extension workshop offers quick-start tips for beginners and last-minute planners
A May 7 crash course workshop in Medina will teach beginner and last-minute gardeners how to quickly start a garden using raised beds and containers.

Gardeners who feel behind as spring approaches will have a chance to catch up quickly through a hands-on workshop offered by Ohio State University Extension Master Gardener Volunteers.
The program, titled “No Plan, No Problem: A Crash Course in Starting a Garden Fast,” is designed for beginners and last-minute planners who want simple, effective ways to start a garden without extensive preparation. Participants will learn how to establish a garden using raised beds and container gardening, along with practical guidance on what can be planted immediately and how to select soil, containers and transplants .
The workshop will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at the OSU Extension Office, 4046 Medina Road, Medina. The cost is $10 per person, and advance registration is required by May 4 .
Organizers say the class is well-suited for anyone new to gardening or those who feel the season arrived sooner than expected. Instruction will focus on quick-start methods that allow participants to begin growing right away, even with limited space or experience.
The session will be led by OSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteers, who will share straightforward techniques to help plants get off to a strong start and build confidence for first-time gardeners.
