Replay for Kids and the Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities teamed up Wednesday, Nov. 19, to host an adapted toy giveaway for families, caregivers, educators and therapists who work with children with disabilities.
During the event, parents, caregivers, teachers and therapists were invited to pick up adapted toys designed to meet the needs of children with physical, cognitive or developmental disabilities. About 400 adapted toys were handed out free of charge — thanks to sponsorship from Mellion Orthodontics — along with switches designed to help children use the toys in ways that match their abilities. The giveaway supports both organizations’ missions to make play more inclusive and accessible for all children, regardless of abilities.
“Play is such an important part of childhood development, but too many kids with disabilities don’t have access to toys they can use,” said Stacey Maleckar, MCBDD superintendent. “We are so thankful to Replay for Kids for this giveaway because it helps bridge that gap and ensures every child can experience the joy and learning that comes from play.”
