Utica man killed in three-vehicle crash in Knox County
Ohio State Highway Patrol says crash occurred at Township Road 148 and state Route 586 in Clay Township early Jan. 14

The Mount Gilead Post of the
Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a three-vehicle fatal
traffic crash that occurred on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 5:58
a.m., at the intersection of Township Road 148 and State Route
586 in Clay Township, Knox County.
Kayla Jacobs, age 30 of Newark, was operating a
2017 Chevrolet Equinox northbound on Township Road 148. Andrew McGee, age
31 of Utica, was operating a 2009 Honda Fit eastbound on State Route
586. David Holmes, age 54 of Warsaw, was operating a 2014 Ford Fusion westbound
on State Route 586. Jacobs failed to yield at a stop sign,
entered the intersection and was struck by McGee. McGee then drove left of
center and struck Holmes.
McGee was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Jacobs and a 5 year old passenger were not injured.
Holmes sustained minor injuries and was
transported to Knox Community Hospital. Holmes, Jacobs and
the 5 year old passenger were all properly restrained. McGee was not
wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Alcohol and
drug use are not suspected to be contributing factors in this
crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was
assisted on scene by the Knox County Sheriff’s
Office, Bladensburg Fire Department and EMS. The crash remains
under investigation.
