MVNU to host traditional Advent service of scripture and song
Free Dec. 3 chapel worship will feature Nine Lessons–style readings, organ music and seasonal selections by university ensembles
The Mount Vernon Nazarene University Music Department will present a traditional Advent worship service on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 7:15 p.m. in the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Auditorium. The community is invited to attend this free event.
Inspired by the Service of Nine Lessons and Carols of the Anglican Church, the service will include scripture readings by various members of the MVNU community and an Advent devotional by Rev. Dave Mills, MVNU’s Vice President for Spiritual Life & Church Relations. Dr. Rebecca Abbott will be featured on organ, and MVNU Music Department ensembles will provide several seasonal music selections, including a special opening piece with combined groups performing “Come Thou Long Expected Jesus.”
For more information, visit www.mvnu.edu or contact Tressa Daley at 740-397-9000, ext. 3000.
