Fredericktown girls bowling, basketball teams post strong week
Lady Freddies earned two bowling wins and swept the week on the basketball court while boys teams split results

The Fredericktown girls bowling team won two of three
matches during the week, while the boys were unable to pick up a victory.
The teams split their match with visiting Centerburg on Jan.
8.
The girls cruised to a 1,481-1,068 victory over the Trojans.
Kota Curtis led the Freddies with a 304 series (164-140).
Raegan Blanchard shot 260 (108-152).
The Freddie boys lost their match, 1,751-1,641.
Jordan Moore fired games of 191-189 (380 series) to pace the
Freddies. Mason Gearhart shot 280 (129-159) and Wyatt Payne 271 (138-133).

Both the boys’ and girls’ teams then dropped a match with
Northmor on Jan. 12.
The girls fell to the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference
leaders, 1,833-1,422.
Maddie Bartlett led the Freddies with a 296 series
(141-155). Curtis added a 236 (115-121).
The Freddie boys were beaten, 2,187-1,702. Gearhart had the
high series on the day, rolling a 364 (167-197). Jaxon Kempton fired a 304
(140-164).
It was another split when the Freddies traveled to Mount
Gilead.
The Lady Freddies used a solid day from the entire team to knock
off the Indians, 1,578-1,413.
Pilar Payne led FHS with a 305 series (117-188). Curtis fired
a 272, followed by Blanchard shot 242, Holly Hogle 239 and Bartlett 237.
The boys were beaten by Mount Gilead, 2,137-1,709.
Moore fired games of 234-203 (437 series) to lead the
Freddies. Wyatt Payne shot 333 (177-156).
Girls' basketball
The Fredericktown girls' basketball team won both their games this week.
A 10-0 run in the third and fourth quarter helped propel
Fredericktown to a 56-38 victory over Cardington on Jan. 7.
Mya Bryant led the Freddies with 25 points on 10 of 19
shooting. She also pulled down 12 rebounds, blocked four shots and had two
steals. Nula Hansen added 15 points on 6 of 9 shooting, pulled down four
rebounds and had three assists, while Ella Bouton had seven points, nine
assists, five rebounds and five blocks, and Vika Arnett had five points, three
rebounds and three steals.
The Freddies broke open a close game with East Knox late to
grab a 38-26 victory on Jan. 10. The Bulldogs led throughout most of the second
and third quarters before a late Freddie run gave them the win.
Bryant poured in 21 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, had three
blocks, two assists and two steals to lead the Freddies. Gracyn Toombs added
seven points and eight rebounds, while Hansen and Arnett each had five points.
Boys’ basketball
Fredericktown dismantled Centerburg to the tune of a 62-9
decision on Jan. 9.
The Freddies jumped out to a 16-4 lead after one quarter,
then expanded the lead immensely with a 24-2 advantage in the second.
Gavin Toombs led the Freddie offense with 18 points. Carson
Rinehart added 13 points and five steals, while Zane Luckmeier had 12 points.
Blake Sipes checked in with eight points, five steals and four assists, and
Graham Overholt had seven points and three steals.
