The Mount Vernon Music and Arts Festival welcomes the return of the annual Flower Show, presented by the Knox County Garden Clubs and organized by chairwomen Jo Ann Graham and Audrey Spearman. The show is hosted by The Living Center, 201 N. Main St., in Mount Vernon, on Aug. 8-10.
The show is open to all Knox County residents and members of Knox County Garden Clubs. It is also open to non-residents of Knox County who wish to enter by making a reservation by calling (740) 397-5156 by Saturday, Aug. 2.
There is no entry charge for participants. Entries will be accepted from 8-11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at The Living Center. All judging will be done by the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs (OAGC) Standard System. Open judging will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 8.
Judging is open to show participants only. Judge's decisions are final, and no decisions are to be changed after the close of judging.
Exhibitor's name, address, and exhibitor number must appear on their entry tag.
Juniors must add age in the upper right-hand corner.No reservations are necessary except for residents outside Knox County.
Schedules will be available at the entrance to The Living Center after Tuesday, July 8.
Entry tags should be made out in advance before arriving at the flower show and/or registration table.

The show will be open to the public on Friday 5-8 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
There will be a brief meeting at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, to announce the People's Choice Award recipient, the winners of the raffle for a gift certificate from Forster's Seeds of Quality, and to distribute prize premiums.
The committee reserves the right to combine, subdivide or eliminate classes to insure a uniform show.Judging day will be on Friday, Aug. 8 from 1-5 p.m. Those that place first, second or third will receive a ribbon and premiums. A winner for Best of Show will be decided for each section and receive a premium.
Additionally, each participant’s name and telephone number will be entered into a drawing for one of ten $10 gift certificates donated by Forester’s Seeds of Quality of which the drawing will take place at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10, alongside the announcement of the People’s Choice Award winner.A People’s Choice (chosen by those who visit the flower show), most creative, and judge’s choice awards will be chosen for sections E or F. Best in show will be given for horticulture. Best of show will be given for junior horticulture and artistic and Living Center horticulture and artistic.
The Knox County Garden Clubs are planning two workshops open to all. There is no fee to enter.
The theme of this year’s flower show is ‘Treasures from the Attic ’and there are no experience requirements to enter. The flower show has two different categories: artistic and horticulture. The public can also vote on their favorite flower piece and declare a People’s Choice winner.Jo Ann and Audrey present two workshops at the Living Center for those entering the show, where they go over the rules and expectations for contestants. The first workshop, on Wednesday, July 9, starts at 1 p.m. and will be held for all those entering the artistic flower category.
Those entering the horticulture category will have the opportunity to attend a second workshop on Wednesday, July 30, starting at 1 p.m.
