East Knox boys basketball drops pair as girls fall to Fredericktown
Bulldogs suffered losses to Mount Gilead and Danville while a third-quarter surge sent Fredericktown past the girls
It was a rough week for the East Knox boys' basketball team. The Bulldogs were edged late by Mount Gilead, then beaten early by rival Danville.
The East Knox boys’ basketball team watched as Mount Gilead made a comeback in the final quarter and beat the Bulldogs, 67-63, on Jan. 6.
The Bulldogs led 49-44 after three quarters, but the Indians scored 23 in the final frame to pull out the victory.
Peyton Hall led the Bulldogs with 16 points. Mason Payne added 12, while Kyson Miller had 11 and Jaxon Crawford nine.
A slow start proved detrimental to East Knox in a 63-41 loss to rival Danville on Jan. 9.
The Bulldogs were outscored 21-8 in the first quarter and the Devils cruised from there.
Kyson Miller and Rush Beatty each scored 15 points to lead the Bulldogs. Peyton Hull added nine.
Girls’ basketball
A rough third quarter was costly for the East Knox girls’ basketball team as it fell to Fredericktown, 38-26.
The Bulldogs led 19-14 at halftime but scored just three points in the third quarter as Fredericktown rallied for the victory.
Jasmine Smith led the Bulldogs with 12 points. Ava Faucett and Izzy Bostic each added seven points.
