Wayne County Dog Shelter raises fees to match costs
The Wayne County Dog Shelter has adjusted its adoption fees, increasing them from $75 to $98, effective April 1. This change will help cover the cost of care and medical services each dog receives before finding their forever home.
“Our goal is to continue providing high-quality care for every dog that comes through our shelter,” Shelter Director and Dog Warden Katelyn Lehman said. “With the rising costs of veterinary care and supplies, this small increase allows us to maintain the standard of care that every dog deserves.”
Every dog adopted from the shelter receives comprehensive medical care including the following:
—DAPPV + Lepto vaccine (protects against distemper, adenovirus, hepatitis, parvovirus and parainfluenza.
—Bordetella.
—Rabies.
—Dewormer.
—Flea treatment.
—Heartworm test and prevention.
Additionally, all dogs are microchipped and licensed, and they go home with a leash, collar and a bag of goodies to help them adjust to their new environment.
This effort ensures adopters receive vetted pets while supporting the shelter’s mission of saving and rehoming needy dogs.
“The Wayne County Dog Shelter appreciates the community’s ongoing support and invites potential adopters to visit and meet the wonderful dogs waiting for a second chance,” Lehman said.
