More than 300 species of fruit depend on bats. Join The Wilderness Center and Save Ohio Bees for Beloved Bats: A Celebration of Bats.

Join The Wilderness Center and Save Ohio Bees on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 1 p.m. for Beloved Bats: A Celebration of Bats, a presentation about bats of Ohio. Part of International Bat Night, this event celebrates Earth’s only flying mammals and promotes bat conservation.

More than 300 species of fruit depend on bats. Learn about imperiled bat species and the threats they face. Discover a bat’s pollination abilities. Bust bat myths and fears. Get tips for supporting or creating bat habitat. Learn what to do if you discover nesting bats. Discover the national bat monitoring program and more.

This session will be presented by Tracy Teuscher, MS, APR, OCVN, founder and director of Save Ohio Bees, at The Wilderness Center in the Trillium Room of the Interpretive Building.

Teuscher is a certified ecotherapist and naturalist with an M.S. in Environmental Studies and a concentration on conservation education and outreach. Teuscher founded Save Ohio Bees after learning 1-in-4 North American native bee species are facing extinction including the American bumble bee, North America’s most essential pollinator. She also is a published poet, songwriter and artist who integrates creative expression in her work.

The Wilderness Center is located at 9873 Alabama Ave. SW in Wilmot.
