On Sept. 24 Starlight participated in Scarecrow on the Square in Carrollton, an annual event held by the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce in which people build a scarecrow display highlighting their businesses. The scarecrows were judged by members of the community including the mayor and other city officials. Starlight placed first in the business category capturing the blue ribbon.

Vickie Baum, vocational manager, and Riley Sprague, Alaina Ulman, Liane Fenstermacher and others created the scarecrows. Jenny Danko, Jodi Zinda, Lexi Swearington and Julie Ketchum set up the display.

The judges walked around the square to view and determine who placed in the competition. There are many displays from community members/organizations. The displays will remain up until Oct. 10.
