To help the American Red Cross recognize the country’s everyday heroes during the month of March, Dairy Queen in Orrville is offering its customers the chance to make a donation of $1, $3 or $5.
All customers who donate can sign their name to a card, which will be on display throughout the month of March. All customers who donate $5 or more will receive a free small blizzard coupon.
“This is a great way to support the daily work done by our Red Cross volunteers, who respond to disasters like home fires and floods, bringing hope to people during their darkest hours,” said Lara Kiefer, executive director of the Lake Erie/Heartland Chapter of the American Red Cross.
In addition customers who need smoke alarms in their home can sign up for free smoke alarms and free installation.
“Our volunteers not only respond to home fires, they try to prevent fire injuries and fatalities by providing fire-safety information and installing smoke alarms in homes throughout Wayne County,” Kiefer said. “We are grateful to the local Dairy Queen for encouraging its customers to support our mission.”
All donations will be used for disaster relief, which includes immediate financial assistance, health and mental-health services, and help planning a way forward following a disaster.
Customers can donate and sign a Red Cross card at Dairy Queen, 225 W. High St., Orrville, through March 31.
