Camp Luz, the Christian children’s camp and event center in Wayne County, will hold a family-friendly gathering at the camp at 152 Kidron Road on Saturday, June 28 at 4:30 p.m. outside the chapel lawn, weather permitting.
Attendees will learn about the future plans of the Next Generation Initiative from Camp Director Andrew Michaels, as well as local church and business leaders and camp board members.
“The board members of Camp Luz are happy to announce an exciting new step in the growth of Camp Luz called the Next Generation Initiative,” said Mike Eberly, Camp Luz board chair. “To better meet the needs of campers, guest groups and the Camp Luz staff, this project is critical for the growth of Camp Luz. This Initiative is the next step in making sure Camp Luz will be a place to develop the future leaders in our churches and communities for many years to come.”
Attendees also will hear from generations of families impacted by the work of Camp Luz and why this project is important to the community.
“We are very excited about these Next Generation Initiative projects at Camp Luz,” said Ken and Connie Neuenschwander, honorary co-chairs of the Next Generation Initiative. “We believe the plan is well thought through, and the elements of the project will strengthen the stated mission of the camp. We hope you will join us to learn more on June 28.”
In addition to hearing about the Next Generation Initiative, the public is invited for a free swim from 1-4 p.m. and to get hot dogs and s’mores and sing around the campfire, weather permitting.
Camp Luz, established in 1954, is operated by the Ohio Mennonite Camp Association and hosts a variety of programs for children, families and groups. The summer camping programs emphasize spiritual growth, community building and outdoor adventure.
