The Dover Democrat Central Committee met Wednesday to select a replacement for Dover Council At-Large. That position was vacated by Gina Space, who will begin serving as Dover law director in January.

The names of Cookie Cozart, Michael DiDonato and Percival “Perci” Garner III were nominated to serve in that position.

Perci Garner was selected.

Garner has been the executive director of the Rainbow Connection since December 2020. Under his leadership the Rainbow Connection has continued its success in fundraising and serving the disabled and disadvantaged residents of Tuscarawas County.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies/Computer Technology from Northeastern University. He serves on the board of the Tuscarawas YMCA, the Prevention Action Alliance and Tuscarawas County Community Improvement Corporation. He also is a member of the Dover Rotary Club.

Garner and his wife Krista have two children, Perci IV and Peyton.

The term of office for this seat will run until the end of 2025. Garner will be sworn into office next week.
