People to People Ministries seeks donations, help

People to People Ministries serves Wayne County residents by offering assistance in a variety of essential areas. Receiving no federal funds, the agency relies on community donations to provide these goods and services.
Last year the People to People pantry served 3,435 families including 2,922 children and 732 seniors. Currently, the items most needed in the pantry include spaghetti sauce, pasta and rice sides, pork and beans, and canned fruit. Requested hygiene items include men and women’s deodorant, dish soap, and toilet paper.
Financial donations also are always needed in order to adequately serve everyone who is in need of assistance.
“We want to stress the need for food and hygiene products throughout the coming year,” pantry coordinator Theresa Markley said. “Continued monetary donations help us continue to do our best to provide what people need.”
People to People has a clothing room where clients are able to choose the items they need. “We are so thankful for the wonderful items that continue to be donated,” said Kate Sigler, financial and clothing coordinator.
Last year People to People supplied 24,560 articles of clothing and 610 household goods.
Hats and gloves are needed for both men and women at this time, especially for men. Boys needs include regular and athletic pants size 5-18, teen pants size 28-34, and teen athletic pants size small to XXL. Girls needs include pants size 5-18 and tops size 14, 16 and 18.
“Volunteers are desperately needed to shop with our clients and work with the clothing,” Sigler said.
