Effective April 1, OneEighty’s housing and support services will transfer to Community Action Wayne Medina. This move aims to consolidate resources and enhance support for clients, ensuring a more streamlined and effective delivery of services.

Bobbi Douglas, executive director of OneEighty, explained the rationale behind transferring housing services to CAWM.

“By consolidating our efforts, we can streamline support for our clients, ensuring they receive the best possible care and assistance,” she said.

Transferring the housing department to CAWM aligns with its mission and strategic plan.

“Our goal is to provide comprehensive support to those in need, and this transfer allows us to better allocate resources and expertise to serve our community,” said James Fox, CEO of Community Action Wayne Medina.

The consolidation of housing services under CAWM is expected to bring numerous benefits including improved client support and more efficient use of resources. CAWM and OneEighty maintain close physical proximity to each other for easy client access. The current staff working at OneEighty in the housing and support department will transfer to CAWM. This will allow for a smoother transition for OneEighty clients, who have built relationships with this staff.

The shared goal of providing safe, affordable housing is central to this transition. Both leaders emphasized the housing-first philosophy, an approach that prioritizes providing permanent housing to people experiencing homelessness, thus ending their homelessness and serving as a platform from which they can pursue personal goals and improve their quality of life.

“By focusing on housing first, we can help individuals move from survival to thriving,” Fox said.

Douglas said, “This transfer of services is a positive step for the community, as it simplifies access to essential support.”

The transfer of housing services to Community Action Wayne Medina marks a step forward in addressing the affordable housing needs of the community. Both organizations are committed to ensuring a smooth transition and continued support for those in need.
