Next popup food pantry is March 11

The Wayne County Health Department, in collaboration with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, will host its next monthly popup food pantry on Tuesday, March 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the health department offices, 244 W. South St., Wooster.

Individuals and families can receive food if their income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level ($30,120 per year for individuals and adding $10,760 per year for each additional family member). For example, a family of four whose annual household income is $62,400 or less would be eligible. This pantry will be drive-thru once again, so there will be no need to get out of your vehicles.

“We served over 150 families in January. Many of the families that came through last month were new to our pantry,” Wayne County Health Commissioner Nick Cascarelli said. “We are very appreciative of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank partnership, and we also are very appreciative of the volunteers who assist us. They are instrumental in helping us be more efficient in service to the community.”

To volunteer to help with the popup pantry, call the Wayne County Health Department at 330-264-9590 ext. 207.
